Best Picture: “Avatar,” “The Blind Side,” “District 9,” “An Education,” “The Hurt Locker,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Precious,” “A Serious Man,” “Up,” “Up in the Air.”

I’d put money on Avatar, but would be happy to lose that bet if The Hurt Locker takes it. Unlikely.

Best Director: James Cameron, “Avatar”; Kathryn Bigelow, “The Hurt Locker”; Quentin Tarantino “Inglourious Basterds”; Lee Daniels, “Precious”; and Jason Reitman, “Up in the Air.”

Kathryn Bigelow did a fantastic job with this movie, and deserves the prize hands down. It’s a romantic note, too, as she used to be married to Cameron.

Best Actor: Jeff Bridges, “Crazy Heart”; George Clooney, “Up in the Air”; Colin Firth “A Single Man”; Morgan Freeman,

“Invictus”; Jeremy Renner, “The Hurt Locker.”

The Dude will abide tonight with a heavy statue in his mitts.

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock, “The Blind Side”; Helen Mirren, “The Last Station”; Carey Mulligan, “An Education”; Gabourey Sidibe, “Precious”; and Meryl Streep, “Julie and Julia.”

As much as it would characterize Academy voters to grace Carey Mulligan with the award for her breakout debut performance, all signs point to Bullock. It’s her year.

Supporting Actor/Actress: Too easy. Christophe Waltz and Mo’Nique.

Screenplays: Hurt Locker for original, not sure about adapted; I’ll go with An Education.

Avatar will also rake in the cinematography, art direction and score trophies, but as for editing… four great choices,”Avatar,” “District 9,” “The Hurt Locker,” & “Inglourious Basterds.”

But it will probably be Avatar.

Update: I guess I overestimated the power of the King.

If Bullock wins Best Actress on top of her Razzie in the same year, that would be cool.

She won. Now if she’d only return my phone calls, I could conduct a real interview.
